Foraging for Wine –

IMG_2714[1]

After work today I pulled on my wellies, grabbed my secateurs and headed into the hedges. Sounds weird. It is.

I’ve been keeping my eyes on the elderberries growing along the edge of the paths and roads on the way to the allotment. They are finally ripe enough to start some elderberry wine, woohoo!

I needed just over 1kg of elderberries for the recipe, which meant getting stuck in with the foraging. I managed to bag myself enough elderberries and still leave a good amount on the bushes for the birds to enjoy. Although I may pop back and get a few for a bottle of elderberry gin…
