I Spy

As our allotment is so close to our house we often find ourselves having a little walk down there in the evenings just to see how it’s looking, it’s great to have it so close!

Tonight we found our first few runner beans of the year. I’ve been keep been keeping an eye on these as they had flowered a few weeks ago. So excited to see new things appearing on the plot. Especially things that have been started as seeds in the greenhouse and have made it the whole way through the journey from greenhouse, to plot and hopefully to plate. Although in this case all my Runner Beans will be heading straight for the freezer so that at the end of the season I can make a big batch of runner bean chutney!

I love making chutneys and jams, there is something so nice about having jars in the cupboards filled with allotment produce that will be opened and enjoyed long after the plant itself has finished flowering.
